Dance Instructor & Dj

Neve starting dancing near Washington D.C. at The Jam Cellar in 2004. Neve loves the vintage jazz which calls dancers to jive. "The music is upbeat, happy, and fun!" She remembers from childhood always loving jazz music and wanting to learn how to move to it. When she moved to Norfolk in 2010 she began teaching and Djing swing at Attucks Theatre. She started a weekly blues & fusion dance in 2011. Her passion is to continue to offer a safe space for dancing, community, and music. Neve believes it is healthy and essential for humans to gather together to have fun that includes movement and music. Neve believes the art of dance is something to be enjoyed and shared. Everyone can learn.

Neve is always on the search for obscure recordings. Her blues and swing selections have a traditional sound though she loves to throw in surprises. Watching the audience and playing to the room is important to Neve in order for her to nurture the dance scene and aid its growth.

Dance Instructor & Dj

Courtney has always been interested in dancing, but she did not pick it up until 2010 when a friend dragged her to a swing dance. That was all it took for dancing to take over her life. Soon she was immersed in the culture surrounding Lindy hop, blues and other swing dances.

In March of 2012 she successfully pestered the right person, Neve, to start up a Monday night blues dance and really took to teaching and gathering music to further her understanding of the blues aesthetic. This opened her up to final and/or place in several completions as a lead and as a follow in blues. Blues dance and music will always hold a special place in her heart.
